Subaru WRX STi 2.5L

Subaru WRX STi 2.5L

This is one of the nicest ride I have seen so far... Wide body kit, matt black, huge rims, original varis bonnet, greddy fmic.... many many more...

Looks wise, no doubt, this is a real head turner. We were tuning the car and decided to stop-by farm-mart for makan and noticed everyone in the kopitiam turn and looked at our ride. Its can only be damn ugly or damn nice. From those people we know and saw this ride, it looks fabulous!

When we first heard about the colour, we almost fainted hahaha... the real thing looks totally fabulous.

This ride comes with forged internals and a huge huge turbo. The turbo used is a 700 cfm region turbo, and boost quite high la... We basically make this ride idle smoothly at 600 rpm and pack it with more low end torque for drivability.

heres the results after reflashing the ecu. On gear 1, nothing. Gear 2, not bad...
Gear 3, is like wow. As long as you floor the accelerator, the car will continue to pull to the redline. Its crazy. The 'g' force felt was strong and car keeps pulling like a crazy horse all the way till redline. Gear 4 needless to say... Owner was with us during tuning and during some of the runs, he was like "wow" !! Damn eye-opener.

Overall, I felt this kit is seriously meant for tracks like Sepang. One which you target to finish the Gear 6 in the shortest time. Hitting top speeds and high peak horse power. We estimate 450 whp. Most car after reaching 220 kph will have problem increasing the speed, this ride sacrifice the low end performance and trade-off for top end performance.

Here's the results from the Dyno machine. 535 bhp on crank, 411 bhp on wheels. Not bad. Smooth torque curves and high peak horse power.

Verdict :

This setup is excellent for track usage where linear powerband is crucial for attacking corners.

Subaru WRX 2.5L

Gaining horsepower cannot come easier than this.... simply increase the size of the turbo to a bigger one, add a boost controller for controlling boost and tune the car using ECU Reflash method. And there you have it, 320~350 bhp on crank!

Everything else remains stock except for a legal aftermart exhaust system that produce a low bassy boxer blurping rythem. Trust Pe-Ti I think... not sure...

The owner of this ride is not unfamiliar, he used to drive the Honda civic esi turbo charged running 0.9 bar of boost. Now upgraded to pacific muscle car and done some minor modification. I told him his setup is very boring la... hahaha... he just laughed and told me, more to come, and will definately create a monster in due time... give me heachache like the last ride .... hahahaha...

This setup is for people who really enjoy the stock drivability and want to enhance it further. You basically want a car with a power packed mid-range. You get to rev all the way to 7500 rpm on this euro spec Wrx, while keeping in mind the best power come from the 4000~5500 rpm.

So, idling is perfectly stable, boost wise, is whatever we set and comes on strongly at 3500 rpm on gear 3. Pulls hard till 5500 rpm. At 5500 rpm, the turbo loses breath and continue to push the car till 7500 rpm. Torque wise, I think the 2.5 packs more than 2.0. Largely due to the earlier and faster build-up of boost.

p/s: after tuning this ride, i went home and tune my own car to make it 'feel' faster la... last time i have a policy that i only tune car slower than mine hahaha... nowadays like not very relavant liaoz... now my car feels like tortise hiaz hahaha... need to mod !!

cheers
