Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 GLX Turbo Charged

Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 GLX Turbo Charged

Take a 1.6L Mitsu engine, put in a CVT gearbox, HKS BOV, WRX TD04 turbo, HKS open Pod, Custom extractor and down pipe you'll get a nice car that has its turbo boost while the CVT produce the max. torque for the car. Sound good?

All controlled using Greddy Emanage blue ecu.

Something I noticed is that only when you shift to "L" can the rpm actually rise to above 3000 rpm, when in "D" mode, you'll have the car around the 2K rpm region. You can almost be certain that when the turbo develops full boost at this rpm, the cvt will definately slip. Maybe thats why Mitsu gave the option of a "L" mode, and for the purpose of turbo charging the ride.

This kind of setup does push the stock cvt to the limits. While all else remains stable, the manual transmission version will definately perform better and opening the option of adding in a boost controller for higher boost.

The estimated gains in bhp should be about 30 without sacrificing a smooth comfortable ride coupled with a CVT tranny.

Verdict:
Improves the day-to-day drive. Suitable for people who wants slightly more, while not creating a monster.
