Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo

Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo

Well not the normal 1.8 GDI engine, the Evolution 3 GSR with a TD-05 16G turbo and an upgraded huge front mount intercooler ensure the driver and passenger is assured of an exciting and eye opening ride. For one, we managed to pull an impressive 40kg of torque at 4000 rpm when the turbo hits its fullest boost. While reminding ourselves this is still running on an automatic gearbox and still retains the looks of the 1.6 galant stock outfit.

With 280bhp in its pocket, its good enough to give our factory baked stock boxers a run for their money. Of course, front wheeled drive and a lighter chassis will mean a trade off on the handling during corners.

This ride was initially tuned on Ron 95 fuel. I only know this when I put the numbers from the Dyno into my calculation and noticed a strange read out from my worksheet. Only after discussing with the owner did I advise the ride to run on Ron 98. The effect of running on a better fuel only made the car perform even better and smoother.

Today, I'm suppose to fine tune this ride before a friendly drag this wednesday. However, the rain made it impossible for us without having to fight every torque steer that comes when the TD05 spools up. When the weather is dry, the torque steer is still managable. Insanity? Yes. Insane is normal for evos.

Verdict :
For drag enthu. this setup is perfect. The flip side is the extremely high FC at 7.5km/L. What do you expect? Fuel savy Evolution? nah.....
